Senegal inaugurate new stadium

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the government of Senegal has outdoored the country's newly-built state of the art stadium in Diamniadio in the presence of thousands of fans of the national team.

Having won the Africa Cup of Nations early this month, the West African football powerhouse followed their success with the completion of the stadium which will host all their international matches.

At a ceremony in the country's capital Dakar, Senegal President Macky Sall revealed the stadium is named after the former head of state, Abdoulaye Wade.

Marseille decorate part of stadium to celebrate Senegal players

Pape Alassane Gueye and Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Dieng are the latest Senegalese players to receive a rapturous welcome at their club after Olympique Marseille gave the pair a standing ovation on their return from the Nations Cup.

The pair played key roles as the Teranga Lions won the tournament for the first time in their history.

Having returned from Cameroon, the players were presented to fans of the club in a fabulous short ceremony before Marseille's game against Clermont Foot on Sunday.
