Stade Rennes Star Kamaldeen Sulemana Apologizes To Ghanaians After Early AFCON Exit

Kamaldeen Sulemana, a member of Ghana's team at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, has issued a sincere apology to Ghanaians after a disappointing campaign.

The Black Stars exited the tournament at finishing bottom of Group C, behind debutant Comoros, who earned a 3-2 victory over the West African powerhouse.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the Stade Rennes attacker wrote lessons have been learnt from the disastrous showing at AFCON 2021.

"My first dance at AFCON started on the wrong foot with performances as a team beyond embarrassing but very grateful for my debut in this prestigious tournament. A very tough experience with so many learning curves. Things didn’t go as planned and we have ourselves to blame as a team," wrote the winger.

"Sincere apologies Ghana. No excuse or apology is enough for Ghana deserves better. Giving up is never an option , we will be back and I mean we will back," added the 19-year-old.

Kamaldeen Sulemana was one of the players tipped to glow at the tournament following his electrifying form in the French Ligue 1 this season.

However, the youngster failed to match the expectations as the team in general performed poorly.

Suelamana moved to France to join Stade Rennais from FC Nordsjaelland in the summer transfer, and has since been a revelation for the Red and Blacks.
