Ghana captain Andre Ayew reveals AFCON 2021 is not his last with the Black Stars

Captain of the Black Stars, Andre Ayew, has revealed he will be at the next Africa Cup of Nations after his 2021 tournament ended just 25 minutes into the game against Comoros.

The 32-year-old was shown the red card after a clash with Comoros goalkeeper Ben Moina in the 3-2 defeat to the AFCON debutants.

Despite the disappointment in Cameroon, Andre Ayew, says that wont be his last tournament with the Black Stars of Ghana.

Having watched 65 minutes of the game against Comoros from the stands, as the Black Stars crumbled, Ayew told reporters after the game he will be at the next AFCON.

“No, it is definitely not," responded Ayew after he was asked if it was his last AFCON, as quoted by Ghanasoccernet.

Ayew will now have to switch his attention on helping Ghana qualify for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar this year, as the draw for the play-offs is set for Saturday, January 22, 2022.

The Al Sadd attacker has been at seven Africa Cup of Nations, joining a rich list of legends who have appeared at the tournament the same number of times, including Asamoah Gyan, Geremi Njitap and Kolo Toure.

Only Egypt's Ahmed Hassan and Cameroon's Rigobert Song have appeared at AFCON eight times.

Ghana for the first time since 2006, have been eliminated from the group stages of AFCON after losing to debutants Comoros on Tuesday night.

Gyan, who works with South Africa's SuperSport TV channel, expressed disappointment, describing the team's display as 'not-Ghanaian'.
