AFCON 2021: Ghana winger Joseph Painstil insists the team will give everything against Gabon

• Joseph Painstil has pledged the Black Stars will do everything to redeem themselves against Gabon on Friday

• Painstil, one of the best Ghanaian players on Monday night, is confident ahead of the second group game

Black Stars forward, Joseph Painstil says it's time for the team to bounce back from the opening day defeat to Morocco and respond by beating Gabon.

Ghana needs victory against Gabon on Friday, January 14, 2022 to boost their chances of progressing to the round of 16.

And after the defeat to the Atlas Lions, Painstil in his post match interview disclosed the Black Stars will seek redemption against the Panthers of Ghana.

"Unfortunately we wanted a win but it turned out to be 1-0 by a mistake but this is football we don't need to put our heads down," said the KRC Genk winger.

"We have to keep going because we have two games ahead.

"Everything is possible and we will do everything to redeem ourselves. The game against Gabon is a tough one but all we have to do is to give everything to our fans and Ghanaians."

In a poor AFCON opener for Ghana, Joseph Painstil was one of the brightest spots on the night, switching flanks with Kamaldeen Sulemana.

Painstil nearly gave Ghana the lead in the match but Morocco goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, produced the save of the tournament so far to stop the forward.

The Black Stars after playing Gabon on Friday will then face debutants the Comoros Island on Tuesday, January 18 in the final group game.

Ghana has not been eliminated from the group stages of the Africa Cup of Nations since 2006.
