How did Palace and Villa split points?

Palace headed into the penultimate game of the 2021-22 Premier League season on a two-game winning streak with Aston Villa looking to sign off their last home game on a good note.

It was Aston Villa, buoyed by the home crowd, who started the game on the front foot spurning two glorious opportunities.

However, Crystal Palace managed to weather the storm as the away side, led by the talismanic Wilfred Zaha grew into the game.

With no goals to write home at the end of the first half, it was Aston Villa who scored first through Watkins in the 69th minute.

Palace shuffled their pack and introduced Schlupp, who managed to rescue a point for the away side when he tapped in from close range with nine minutes left on the clock.
