The Blues are believed to be set for another busy transfer window following a successful second-half of the season under Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel, who arrived in January as a successor to Frank Lampard, has already managed to steer the club back to the top four as well as leading them to the finals of the FA Cup and the Champions League.

TUKO.co.ke understands the Chelsea board is more than ready to back the German tactician this summer in his bid to add reinforcements within his ranks.

Despite the Stamford Bridge dwellers' impressive form, goals have proved hard to come by, forcing Tuchel to enter the market searching for a prolific striker to offer options to the likes of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner - both of whom arrived last summer.

Sky Sports Germany now reports Chelsea has contacted Lewandowski's representatives over a potential switch to the Premier League.

However, Tuchel's side will have to contend with growing competition from other clubs who are thought to be eyeing the Polish striker.

Man City have already been credited with an interest in the 32-year-old, with the Premier League champions looking for a replacement for Sergio Aguero, who is due to leave at the end of the season.

Paris Saint-Germain are the other side considering a swoop for the forward, while Barcelona are also in the frame for his services.

But unlike PSG, Chelsea, and Man City, Barca are in a financial crisis and are unlikely to meet Lewandowski's valuation.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the Pope's future at Bayern, the Bundesliga giants have maintained they are keen to have him stay beyond this summer.

According to the club's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Lewandowski's agent, Pini Zahavi, is the force behind the rumours of the player's possible exit.

"Of course he’ll stay. Who sells a player, who scores 60 goals a year?" Karl-Heinz posed.
"He [Zahavi] didn’t ask [about a move]. He knows exactly how things tick at FC Bayern," he added.
