  • Jose Mourinho completely snubbed his former club Chelsea as he named his favourite to win the Champions League
  • Two of Mourinho’s former sides - Chelsea and Real Madrid, face off in the Champions League quarter final
  • In a recent presser, Mourinho acknowledged Carlo Ancelotti’s side while completely overlooking the Blues, who have been struggling in the league this season

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho risked the wrath of the loyal fans of the London club after he completely disregarded them while talking about the Champions League.

The Champions League quarter-final draw was announced on Friday, March 17 with a number of cracking matches ahead including Real Madrid against Chelsea.

This tie will be particularly interesting to Mourinho, who has had managerial stints at both clubs with extraordinary success.

“There is a club that is close to my heart and there is a manager who is my friend,” He said on Thursay after Roma conquered Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
“Real Madrid are great and Carlo Ancelotti is great! Hopefully they will go on in this way to win the final.”

Mourinho’s comments will surely have rubbed some Chelsea fans the wrong way, especially because of the fond memories they have of the Portuguese tactician.

Having managed Chelsea across two stints, Mourinho has managed to win the Premier League title on both occasions.

Chelsea have an outside chance of winning the Champions League, having won it with Thomas Tuchel in 2021.

However, with Real Madrid standing in the way of the Blues and a semi final slot, it might prove to be an uphill task proceeding to the next round, especially with the unpredictable nature of the London side under Graham Potter.

Supercomputer predicts Champions League winner

Sports Brief also reported on a supercomputer’s prediction on the club more likely to lift the Champions League.

The artificial intelligence predictor pegs the chances of Manchester City above 50 per cent. According to the projection, Pep Guardiola's charges have a 57 per cent chance of reaching the semi-finals and a 28 per cent opportunity of winning the elusive trophy missing from their trophy cabinet.
