  • Atletico Madrid attacker João Felix is on loan at Chelsea until the season ends
  • The Portuguese joined the Blues last month but the deal has no buying option
  • Felix has now expressed deep concerns over his future in the Premier League

Prior to visiting Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Portugal, there had been reported news of a broken relationship between João Felix and Diego Simeone, with the player reportedly wanting out of the club.

Premier League clubs explored the option of taking Felix on loan, but the fee and his salary proved the stumbling block, with Arsenal and Manchester United pulling out.

It took the injuries to Christian Pulisic and Raheem Sterling, both in the first half of the 1-0 Premier League loss to Manchester City, for Chelsea to go after the attacker, as reported by Sports Illustrated.

Felix worried over Chelsea future

As reported by Sky Sports, Chelsea signed the Portuguese star on a loan deal until the end of the season, costing the club £9.69-million and covering his £250,000 per week wages.

However, there is no option or obligation to buy at the end of the season.

The condition of the deal worries Felix, who was red-carded on his debut against Fulham but is back in contention for the weekend game against West Ham.

He told AS, as quoted by Metro UK:

"I was already looking for a change of scenery a while ago because it was difficult to get used to the way of playing. I left [Atletico] because my head was already full from trying so hard and not being able to," he said about leaving Spain.

As reported by AS, Simeone could leave Atletico at the end of the season after 11 years. This could be the reason the club did not sanction the Felix deal with a buy clause, in case the incoming manager has use for the 23-year-old.

"They [Chelsea] don’t have a purchase option. They would have to reach an agreement with Atletico. I’ve only been here a few weeks, a month. I am learning everything. I am very comfortable, but nobody knows the future," he said.

Felix said he was still uncertain what the future would hold, both in terms of his situation and the situation with Simeone - nicknamed Cholo.

"As I said, we will have to wait until June," he added.

Felix visits London Eye

Felix may have been red-carded on his debut and be concerned over his future at Chelsea, but those have not stopped him from exploring the beauty of London.

Shortly after his dismissal in his first game, Felix visited the London Eye, also popularly referred to as the Millennium Wheel, as reported by Sports Brief.

The Portuguese star certainly loves it in London and has visited the city many times before, including a trip where he met current teammate, Reece James.
