Chelsea continued their spending spree under new owners, Todd Boehly and Clearlake in a shocking manner. They announced they have reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The transfer is reportedly worth £88m and the player will sign an eight and half years contract, which is becoming a new trend under the new ownership, which would help with UEFA FFP regulations.

The Pensioners announced their new signing in the middle of the Premier League game against another London neighbour Crystal Palace, after he was spotted at their home ground, Stamford Bridge, much to the dismay of Arsenal fans.

The news of Chelsea agreeing a deal with Shakhtar Donetsk for Mudryk was not well received by Arsenal fans who lambasted their sporting director, Edu and the player himself, according to Daily Mail.

‘I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea. This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff.’ he told Chelsea official website.

Graham Potter's men will hope to win the game and turn their season around, after just one win in nine games with the last loss culminating in a red card for loan signing João Felix, as reported by Goal.

Why Mudryk joined Chelsea

Sports Brief earlier reported that Mudryk chose to join Chelsea because Arsenal gave a no response to his question on whether they can match Chelsea's offer of €100m.

The Gunners were leading favourites and the player clearly wanted to join the club as shown in his public display of love for the club, but could not match their neighbor's offer.

It would be the second time Chelsea would hijack a player from a North London rival, after stealing the deal for Willian from Tottenham, who joined from Anzhi Makhachkala.
