Chalobah and Mount spent 11 years together at the academy, and played at all youth levels and both have won trophies together. The defender celebrated his teammate, who turned 24 yesterday, with a throwback photo of the two in the academy.

Chalobah throws it back

In the 2019/20 season, Frank Lampard handed debuts to eight Chelsea academy graduates, a club record as noted by Daily Star. One of these was Mount, who has been likened to the legend himself.

Chalobah on the other hand, got his debut under former boss, Thomas Tuchel in the UEFA Super Cup final and has remained an integral part of the team's first team since then.

The Sierra Leone-born defender, whose brother Nathaniel also came through the Chelsea academy, shared a photo of himself and the former Derby loanee from the academy days, with a caption wishing Mount a happy birthday.

Chalobah contracted till 2028

Sports Brief earlier reported that Chelsea extended Chalobah's contract until 2028 in a show of faith in the academy graduate, despite his previous contract expiring in 2026.

The former Lorient loanee was poised to leave the Blues last season due to the arrival of Wesley Fofana from Leicester City but was convinced to stay on by new owner, Todd Boehly.

Mount faces a contract renewal standstill meanwhile. As his current Chelsea contract is set to expire in 2024, the club is trying to tie down the two-time player of the year to a longer deal.
