  • Chelsea Women's Samatha Kerr provided comic relief after interrupting manager Emma Hayes during a press conference
  • Kerr asked Hayes to hurry with her interview and go back to the dressing room, as she was hungry
  • The Australian player is considered one of the best female strikers in world football

Sports journalists covering the Chelsea Women's game vs Tottenham Hotspur Women on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, were treated to a light moment from Samantha Kerr.

The striker interrupted her manager Emma Hayes' press conference via a phone call, with a weird request that amused journalists.

Chelsea had just beaten their London rivals 3-0, with Kerr herself on target. Reiten and Erin Cuthbert scored the other goals.

It was Hayes' first game in charge since she came back from an enforced medical leave. The celebrated manager had taken some time off to recover from an ongoing battle with endometriosis.

During her time off, assistant Denise Reddy and Paul Green took charge of the club.

Kerr was hungry

While addressing journalists after watching her side bag maximum points, Hayes was called by Kerr, who asked her to hurry up with her interview as she (Kerr) was hungry.

The more hilarious part was that Hayes was at that point talking about her prolific Australian striker when she rang her up, as Dom Smith reports via Twitter.

"Emma Hayes speaking about Sam Kerr in her press conference. Kerr rings Hayes almost immediately. “You’re listening to this, aren’t you, Sam!” she says. Kerr explains she’s just getting hungry and wants Hayes to hurry up & get back to the dressing room. “Alright, f**king hell Sam"

Kerr finished third in this year's Ballon d'Or rankings, behind eventual winner Barcelona's Alexas Putellas and Arsenal's Beth Mead.

Chelsea are currently top of the table with 21 points, but have played a game more than their closest competitors.

Chelsea women star trolls opponents

Sports Brief has previously reported that Lauren James, the younger sister of Chelsea's fullback Reece James, showed her uncanny nature when she trolled her opponents.

Lauren, who plays for Chelsea Women, missed a penalty against West Ham United Women in a Women's Super League match.

The West Ham supporters started booing her and Lauren responded in kind, making a gesture to the fans in an apparent move to remind them what the scoreline was.
