Graham Potter is expected to make significant changes to the team that lost to the Gunners, with academy youngsters projected to get some minutes under their belts.

Possible Chelsea XI vs City

Edouard Mendy is in line to start between the sticks at the Etihad Stadium, with Trevoh Chalobah and Kalidou Koulibaly providing cover in the heart of defence.

Cesar Azpilicueta is likely to start on the left as Marc Cucurella starts on the right in a back four.

Should Potter decide against risking Mateo Kovacic, Denis Zakaria and Conor Gallagher can be expected to freshen up the midfield.

Armando Broja and possibly out-of-favour Hakim Ziyech could also start, with Christian Pulisic also getting a nod upfront.

Chelsea's possible starting lineup:

Mendy, Azpilicueta, Chalobah, Koulibaly, Cucurella, Gallagher, Zakaria, Kovacic, Ziyech, Broja and Pulisic.

Pep on Haaland facing Chelsea

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Man City boss Pep Guardiola has delivered an update on Erling Haaland's injury ahead of his side's meeting with Chelsea.

Haaland is understood to be battling a foot injury he suffered in October, which ruled him out of City's Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund and against Leicester City in the Premier League.

According to Guardiola, his star forward is still nursing his foot complaint and faces a fitness test ahead of City's Carabao Cup clash against Chelsea.
