  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette shared a close bond during their time together at the Emirates Stadium
  • The bond was cut when Aubamenyang was shipped to Barcelona during the January transfer window after his fallout with Mikel Arteta
  • However, Auba sealed a stunning return to the Premier League months later, opting to sign for Arsenal's London rivals, Chelsea
  • The move caught the Arsenal faithful by surprise, with Auba disclosing that Lacazette was equally shocked by the move

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has opened up on how Alexander Lacazette reacted to his decision to join Chelsea in the summer.

Auba sealed a stunning return to the Premier League on the transfer deadline day of the summer, barely six months after he had left the English top flight.

The Gabonese attacker quit the EPL back in February for a move to Barcelona after his fallout with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

Despite being one of the most influential figures at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta sanctioned the transfer of Aubameyang to the La Liga just weeks after he had stripped him of the captaincy role.

However, the ex-Dortmund star's stay at the Camp Nou was shortlived as he moved back to the Premier League a few months later.

Barca are understood to have decided to cash in on him due to the club's financial crisis, with Auba agreeing to join the Blues as he had 'unfinished business' in the Premier League.

Aubameyang has now revealed that Alexander Lacazette was the first Arsenal player to contact him about the move.

Asked if the message was to wish him good luck at Stamford Bridge, Aubameyang told BBC’s MOTDx:

"Nah, no!"
"Even before, when he just heard about the rumours, he was like, “what, nah, really?!” the striker added.

According to the Chelsea striker, Lacazette, with whom they shared a close bond at Arsenal, expressed shock at his decision to join the Gunners' London rivals.

Aubameyang responds to leaked video

Sports Brief earlier reported on Aubameyang's response to the video that leaked, showing him aiming digs at Arteta.

Aubameyang acknowledged what he said but praised Arsenal for their phenomenal start to the season.

The Gabonese, now at Chelsea, said when the Blues and Arsenal meet next month, however, he wants to get one over his former side.
