  • Didier Drogba has taken issue with the handling of Chelsea by new owners after a number of high-ranking staff departed
  • Boehly's acquisition of the club in May has seen the likes of Bruce Buck and Marina Granovskaia leave
  • Drogba feels that the club's values under former owner Roman Abramovich have been eroded

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has criticised the club's new owners over the treatment of key staff.

Long-serving owner Roman Abramovich had to sell the club last year due to the Russian-Ukraine conflict. Subsequently, after a thorough bidding process, the club was sold to Todd Boehly of the Clearlake consortium.

Boehly's short time in charge has seen a number of key members of Chelsea staff leave. It started with the exits of chairman Bruce Buck and director Marina Granovskaia. Petr Cech, a legend at the club, also left his post as technical advisor.

It was followed by the high-profile sacking of Head Coach Thomas Tuchel, who was replaced almost immediately by Graham Potter. Other members who left include head of medical Paco Biosca and director of communications Steve Atkins.

Lack of values and principles

Drogba has now blasted the new ownership of lacking class. Speaking to Canal Plus, as quoted by Football London, the Ivorian asked Boehly to return the club to the values of his predecessor.

"I knew this club with a certain class during the Abramovich era, but today I find it lacking,"
"It’s very hard for me to see how they got rid of certain people, for example, the physiotherapists, who were there for a very long time. They should go back to the principles and values they had."

Potter's appointment seems to be paying off so far, with the club yet to lose under his tenure. Boehly is also working to look for a sporting director who will work hand in hand with the coach on new players and the club's transfer policy.

Boehly had explained why Chelsea had to sack Thomas Tuchel

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly had revealed interesting details about why they decided to sack Thomas Tuchel.

Tuchel was relieved of his duties as Chelsea's head coach last month following a spate of poor results.

The German gaffer was sacked barely 15 months after leading the side to Champions League victory. Boehly adopted the ruthless nature of former owner Roman Abramovich by firing Tuchel at the first sight of a dip in form.
