Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured the services of former Chelsea striker Diego Costa until the end of the season.

Costa, a two-time Premier League winner, makes a sensational return to the English top-flight after a successful stint with Chelsea.

Wolves moved for the 33-year-old ex-Atletico Madrid forward after summer-signing Sasa Kalajdzic was ruled out by an ACL injury.

He has been without a club since leaving Brazilian outfit Atletico Mineiro back in January. Costa is expected to be drafted straight into coach Bruno Lage's team following the injuries to Kalajdzic and Jimenez.

After sorting out Costa's work permit issues, Wolves announced the capture of the fiery frontman:

"Wolves have secured the signing of experienced international striker Diego Costa on a deal until the end of the 2022/23 season, subject to international clearance," a statement on the club's website read.
"The Spanish international, who is on the cusp of 500 games in football, boasts 12 major honours to his name, including two Premier League titles from a memorable time at Chelsea, and a reputation for scoring goals at the highest level.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that former Chelsea striker Diego Costa could make a dramatic return to the English Premier League with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Costa is going to have a trial with Wolves this week to assess his fitness and suitability after injuries to forwards Sasa Kalajdzic and Raul Jimenez, reports the BBC.

The 33-year-old goal poacher has been clubless since leaving Brazilian outfit Atletico Mineiro in January but could make a return to the Premier League following injuries to Wolves' forwards Sasa Kalajdzic and Raul Jimenez.
