One of the reasons which led to a strained relationship and Tuchel's eventual sack was his opposition to the owner's 'dream'.

Behind the scenes on the club's US tour in the summer, Tuchel was rumoured to be unhappy, particularly with the club's transfer policy direction.

His discussions over transfers with Boehly were strained.

There was a definite split over the plan by American Boehly to try to sign Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United - a move Tuchel did not support, reports the Sun.

Sources at Chelsea claim the 49-year-old German trainer was growing increasingly frustrated and believed that the new owners wanted to control every aspect of his job.

One said: "The new owners want to be everything. They want to buy the players and coach the players if they can."

Chelsea receive green light to speak with Tuchel's successor

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion have given permission to Chelsea to speak to Graham Potter as the Blues seek a successor for the sacked Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea showed Thomas Tuchel the exit door on the back of a shock 1-0 loss against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and are working around the clock to find his successor.

The London-based outfit were mooted to be interested in ex-Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino, multiple Champions League winning coach Zinedine Zidane and Brighton boss Graham Potter.
