  • The Blues will also reportedly part with an extra £2million to cater for Tuchel's backroom staff, who will be following the German in leaving the club
  • The decision to axe Tuchel, just 18 months after he took over at Stamford Bridge, is said to have been conceived before their trip to Dinamo Zagreb

Thomas Tuchel is set to smile all the way to the bank despite his ruthless sacking at Chelsea on Wednesday, September 7.

Thomas Tuchel's sacking to cost Chelsea £15m

According to the Daily Mail, the sacking of Tuchel is set to cost Chelsea an eyewatering £15 million.

The publication reports the former PSG boss was among the best-paid managers in the Premier League, with his yearly wages in the region of £13m.

That is the much the Blues will reportedly be paying Tuchel for sacking him, with an additional £2m going to his backroom staff.

Tuchel was appointed Blues boss in January 2021, succeeding Frank Lampard, who had been sacked then.

The ex-PSG boss hit the ground running by winning the Champions League in six months before guiding the London club to Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles.

Chelsea receive green light to speak with Tuchel's successor

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Premier League club Brighton have given permission to Chelsea to speak to Graham Potter as the Blues seek a successor for the sacked Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea showed Thomas Tuchel the exit door on the back of a shock 1-0 loss against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League and are working around the clock to find his successor.

The London-based outfit were mooted to be interested in ex-Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino, multiple Champions League winning coach Zinedine Zidane and Brighton boss Graham Potter.
