Christian Atsu has described the decision to join Chelsea in 2013 as the best ever he made in an ill-fated spell with the Blues.

The 30-year-old caught the attention of Chelsea when he was playing for FC Porto in Portugal, where he displayed enormous talent.

However, his time at the London club was overshadowed by a series of loan spells before eventually joining Newcastle United in 2017.

In a reply to a post on Facebook reminding him of when he joined Chelsea, the Saudi-based player stated it was the best decision.

"On this day nine years ago, Chelsea signed Christian Atsu," posted a Ghanaian journalist, Muftawu Abdulai and Atsu replied: "The best decision I’ve ever made."

Atsu failed to make a competitive appearance for the Blues in his four-year stint at the club, spending his time on loan at Vitesse, Everton, Bournemouth, Malaga and Newcastle United.

He eventually made a permanent switch to Newcastle United in 2017.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Christian Atsu is pleading with handlers of the Ghana Football Association to honour Asamoah Gyan's desire to play at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The 36-year-old opened up on his dream of playing at another World Cup despite being unattached for almost two years.

Atsu and Gyan played together at the 2014 World Cup, and the ex-Newcastle United player wants the former Black Stars captain to be a part of the team in Qatar.

Ghanaian winger Christian Atsu has revealed he is ready for the new season after showing off his ripped figure.

The 30-year-old has proved he is in perfect shape to play for Al-Raed in the upcoming campaign after already testing the Saudi Arabian league last season.

The Ghana international signed for Al-Raed in Saudi Arabia from Newcastle United on a free transfer last year.
