A young Southampton mascot made a mockery of Chelsea captain César Azpilicueta before the Blues were handed their second defeat in as many games played this season.

The young lad, clad in Southampton's home kit, left Azpilicueta's hand hanging when he had earlier stretched his hand for a handshake only to withdraw as the Chelsea captain tried to shake his hands.

In a video posted on Twitter, seen by Sports Brief, the youngster left the 33-year-old stunned and confused with his unusual gesture before the start of the game.

The Southampton mascot crowned his gesture by wiggling his hand from his nose in a funny footage which has gained a lot of traction on the internet.

The preceding scenario between the Chelsea captain and the Southampton mascot in the tunnel before the game took a slight toll on Azpilicueta and the entire team as the Blues stumbled to a loss.

Azpilicueta's Chelsea took the lead when in-form Raheem Sterling, who netted his third goal in two games, bundled the ball into the net after his initial effort was blocked by the rushing defender.

However, Romeo Lavia equalized for Southampton with a neat effort from the edge of the area, before Adam Armstrong scored in first-half stoppage time to win the game for the hosts.

Chelsea slump to second straight away loss at Southampton

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Chelsea lost their second successive away game this season after a resilient Southampton side beat them 2-1 at the St.Marys Stadium.

Southampton had to do it the hard way by coming from a goal down to record a shock victory over the visitors.

Raheem Sterling put Chelsea in front in the 23rd minute before Romeo Lavia equalised for the Saints five minutes later. Adam Armstrong scored his first goal in this calendar year just before halftime to ensure Southampton got the maximum points.
