  • Christian Pulisic is set to remain at Chelsea beyond this summer after the club refused to allow him to leave on loan
  • The winger is said to be disappointed with the club's decision, especially after Callum Hudson-Odoi was allowed to leave
  • Pulisic wanted to seek regular game time elsewhere as he prepares to lead out his nation at the FIFA World Cup in November

Christian Pulisic's attempts to leave Chelsea this summer have been blocked by the club. The winger is now set to remain at the club and fight for his place under Thomas Tuchel.

Pulisic's role at the club was under scrutiny after the club bought Raheem Sterling from Manchester City. He is yet to begin any games this season, with all of his appearances coming from the bench.

Being a world cup year, Pulisic wanted to secure regular game time elsewhere. The American will lead his nation to the FIFA World Cup later this year in Qatar. The United States are set to face England, Iran and Wales in Group B.

The Daily Mail reports that Chelsea rejected loan offers for the former Borussia Dortmund star. Tuchel has only bought Sterling to replace the departed Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner. Callum Hudson-Odoi is also finalising a loan move away to Bayer Leverkusen.

Pulisic was ready to extend his Chelsea contract before leaving. Manchester United and Newcastle were among the clubs that were ready to buy the 23-year-old.

Chelsea terminate Ross Barkley's contract to make room for new signings

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Chelsea have cut ties with Ross Barkley after terminating his contract one year early.

Barkley has failed to make an impact at Stamford Bridge since joining the Blues from Everton in 2018 in a £15m transfer deal.

The Englishman has scored just 12 goals in a blue shirt in about 100 appearances across competitions. Having spent the 2022/21 season on loan at Aston Villa, the 28-year-old returned to Chelsea last term but could only manage 14 appearances under head coach Thomas Tuchel.
