Nigerian footballer Alex Iwobi has stated clearly that the conversation he had with Everton manager Lampard before their Premier League game against Chelsea helped him to shine.

Despite losing their opening game in the 2022/23 Premier League season, Alex Iwobi was impressive in the encounter with the Nigerian distributing excellent passes in the midfield.

Many football fans even compared the game of Alex Iwobi against Chelsea to that of former Bolton and Super Eagles captain Okocha.

Okocha during his active playing time was known as the master of the midfield both for all the clubs he played for and in the national teams.

According to the report on Punch, Alex Iwobi explained that Frank Lampard has been helping his football development.

Alex Iwobi's reaction about talks with Lampard

“I had a meeting with the manager before the game who told me – especially when we are going on the attack – that I should look around and be aware of my surroundings.
“It helped me going into the game and I felt like I did okay.
“I felt quite comfortable in midfield. The defence was always talking to me and helping me, so I was always in the right positions at the right times.''

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Super Eagles midfielder Lukman Haruna has opened up on how he lost his confidence at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa when he met Lionel Messi while playing for Nigeria.

The 31-year-old Lukman Haruna came into prominence in 2007 when he helped the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria to win the Under 17 World Cup under late Coach Yemi Tela.

His performances then promoted him to the Under 20 where he also played in the 2009 World Cup with the Nigerian team.

Lukman Haruna who is currently without a club explained that he has been training hard and hopeful that he would get a club.

He also explained that playing against Lionel Messi was a great experience for him at the World Cup.
