  • There are massive changes going on at Chelsea under the new stewardship of Todd Boelhy
  • The Blues are set to have a different look next season, with the exits of Lukaku, Christiansen and Antonio Rudiger
  • Meanwhile, the London club continue to be linked with some other big names, including Cristiano Ronaldo, who wants to play for a Champions League club

A look at Chelsea’s potential starting XI in the upcoming season if they capture all their summer targets suggests Thomas Tuchel’s side could be a force to reckon with.

The London outfit has arguably been the busiest over the last few months in terms of major changes, with a number of exits, including former owner Roman Abramovic.

As far as players are concerned, this summer also saw Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Saul Niguez leave the club.

And other players could follow suit, with Barcelona highly interested in Marcos Alonso.

While there have been no official arrivals in terms of new signings, there are several players that are likely to join Chelsea this summer.

Notably, Raheem Sterling is all but a Chelsea player as of Friday, July 8, as Manchester City are keen on selling the winger who has a year left on his contract.

The acquisition of Sterling will certainly be a huge boost for Tuchel’s side, as he is only 27 and certainly has goals and assists in him.

How can Chelsea shape up next season?

As far as rumours are concerned, Chelsea are in pole position to sign Matthijs de Ligt, despite the fact that the Dutch defender has two years left on his contract, which also contains a £103 million release clause.

More sensationally, Cristiano Ronaldo has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, as the Man United icon is unsettled at Old Trafford.

Ronaldo is set to miss the first part of Manchester United’s pre-season tour, as he cited ‘family reasons’ for his absence.

With the 37-year-old’s future in doubt and Chelsea in need of a natural goalscorer after Lukaku’s exit, it is not hard to see Ronaldo in the famous Blue shirt.

This is how Chelsea could line up next season if all their summer ambitions go according to plan:

First team: Mendy (Gk), Thiago Silva, De Ligt, Reece James, Ben Chilwell, N’golo Kante, Matteo Kovacic, Kai Havertz, Cristiano Ronaldo, Raheem Sterling

Second team: Kepa (GK), Trevoh Chalobah, Ethan Ampadu, Ceasar Azpilicueta, Ian Ethan Maatsen, Christian Pulisic, Broja, Timo Werner.

Mourinho’s message to Ten Hag about Cristiano Ronaldo

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported of Jose Mourinho’s subtle warning to Erik Ten Hag about Cristiano Ronaldo.

Back in 2013, during his time as Real Madrid manager, Mourinho revealed an issue he had managing the Portuguese great.

"A coach and player may have their differences at a given time, but it ends there. I don't have any problem.
"I had only one problem with him, very simple, very basic. When a coach criticises a player from a tactical viewpoint trying to improve what in my view could have been improved.”
