- Ousmane Dembele has told a fan in a viral video that he is happy at Barcelona despite contract renewal talks breaking down
- Chelsea were the leading contenders to sign the former Borussia Dortmund winger with the club desperate for reinforcements on many fronts
- Reports had earlier emerged that Dembele had rejected Barcelona's latest offer and was eyeing a move away from Camp Nou
Ousmane Dembele has sent out a strong indication that he intends to stay at Barcelona past this summer. Negotiations had reportedly broken down between the two parties with Dembele rejecting Barcelona's latest offer.
Chelsea were seeking to take advantage of the situation and swoop in on the French international but in a new video spotted by Sports Brief, Dembele is seemingly ready to re-enter negotiations.
In the video, a fan asks Dembele whether he will be leaving the Catalans this summer to which Dembele replies:
I am fine at Barcelona.
New owner Todd Boehly is ready to sanction the move and reunite Tuchel with a player he worked with at Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea will be hoping that Dembele's latest remarks are just a gimmick. Alternatively, the Blues will be hoping to bank on the dire financial situation to lure the 25-year-old from Spain. No official offer has been tabled yet.
Earlier reports had suggested that Dembele was ready to snub Paris Saint Germain and join Chelsea
Sports Brief had earlier reported on a contrasting development of Ousmanne Dembele getting ready to grace the Premier League after reportedly agreeing to join Chelsea, according to stunning new reports.
Robert Lewandowski: Bayern Munich striker afraid of joining Chelsea, he will wait for Barcelona's offer
Dembele, who enjoyed a good run of form towards the end of last season, will join the Blues on a free transfer, with his Barcelona contract running down.
The 25-year-old had a number of options on the cards, including remaining at Barcelona and moving to French giants Paris Saint Germain.
