German side Eintracht Frankfurt equalled Chelsea’s impressive record of scoring in every Europa League game in a season. Frankfurt beat Rangers on post-match penalties to lift their first-ever Europa League crown.

By doing so, Frankfurt became the only second side in history to score in every game of the competition. Chelsea did so in the 2018-2019 season en route to winning the Europa League.

Frankfurt’s season in the second-fiddle European competition has been superb. They won seven games and drew six in the process, including the final. The final ended in a one-all draw with Rafael Borre equalizing for the German opposition. Nigerian international Joe Aribo had been Rangers ahead in the 57th minute.

They also became the third team to win the Europa League unbeaten after Chelsea and Villarreal. Chelsea went on an unbeaten spree in the 2018-2019 season. It culminated in a 4-1 win over Arsenal that was held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Yellow Submarines of Villarreal similarly had a historic campaign in the 2020-2021 season. The Unai Emery side beat Manchester United on post-match penalties.

Frankfurt will revel in their latest addition. They knocked out Barcelona in the quarter-finals before seeing off West Ham in the semis to set up the showdown with Rangers.

They, however did not have a prolific Bundesliga campaign after finishing 11th. They will. However, participate, in next season’s Champions League by virtue of winning the Europa League.

How did Frankfurt beat Rangers in the final?

Sports Brief reported that Eintracht Frankfurt are the new champions of the UEFA Europa League. The Germans defeated Rangers FC 5-4 on penalties after the tie ended 1-1 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium in Seville.

Rangers opened the scoring via Nigerian Joe Aribo in the 57th minute, before Colombian Rafael Santos Borre equalised 12 minutes later in the 69th minute.

After Welshman Aaron Ramsey had his penalty saved by man-of-the-match Kevin Trapp, Rafael Borre stepped up to blast the ball past Allan McGregor and send what was a quarter of the stadium into delirium.
