  • Chelsea forward, Timo Werner believes Liverpool are the favourites ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup final
  • The Blues face Liverpool in Saturday’s Wembley showpiece, determined not to suffer a third successive defeat, having lost to Leicester last year and Arsenal in 2020
  • The FA Cup is Chelsea’s only chance of silverware in this season’s domestic campaign after disappointments in the EPL and League Cup

Chelsea will be aiming to win a 9th FA Cup title this weekend when they take on Liverpool in this season’s final at the Wembley Stadium.

The Blues have been unsuccessful in recent years in their quest to lift England’s oldest club competition after facing defeats in the 2020 and 2021 finals.

According to a report via the Daily Mirror, Chelsea forward, Timo Werner has rated Thomas Tuchel’s team as the underdogs heading into Saturday’s final against the Reds.

“But I think the FA Cup Final is a bit similar to the Champions League Final last year. I think there we were also a bit the underdogs, but it fits us very well, I think. With the structure we have.
“It makes it a lot of fun to play against Liverpool. They defend very deep because they are also very brave, and they also defend very high, so maybe that fits my style of football a bit better. It is fun.”

Timo Werner has scored just 8 goals this season for Chelsea but will hope to play a part in the FA Cup final.

Chelsea handed a huge FA Cup final boost

Meanwhile, Chelsea fans are in a jubilant mood after it was confirmed by Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp that midfielder, Fabinho has been ruled out of the FA Cup final.

According to Football London, Fabinho has undergone a scan on his injury, and it is expected the Brazilian midfielder will be out for the remainder of the campaign.

Fabinho limped off during Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday, May 10, after suffering a muscle injury in the first half of the clash at Villa Park.

Tuchel names star player unlikely to play in the FA Cup final

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has disclosed Mateo Kovacic is unlikely to feature against Liverpool during the upcoming FA Cup final.

The Blues are scheduled to face Liverpool on Saturday, May 14, at Wembley Stadium, with the clash representing a realistic chance for Tuchel's men to end the season on a high.

The German tactician could miss a number of key players for the encounter, with Kovacic, the standout member, unlikely to play any role in the match.
