Everton has been fighting to avoid the chop at the end of the season. Lampard understands that his side will require help from all quarters. And he was quick to thank his former club for doing him a big favour.

Metro UK reports that Lampard was full of praise for Mount after watching his side battle out to a goalless draw against Watford.

I will send Mount a message of thanks later. Those things are out of your hands but Mason’s a fantastic player and I’m pleased for him that he’s getting those numbers because he is a player of such a high level and those numbers reflect it.
It's brilliant for him and Chelsea did us a favour getting that result, but we have to make sure we do our own thing to get this over the line.

Mount’s breakthrough into proper professional football came thanks to Lampard. The all-time Chelsea top goal scorer used Mount during his days as Derby County’s head coach.

Lampard gave Chelsea youth players their breakthroughs

After his stint with Derby, Chelsea appointed Lampard as their head coach after parting ways with Maurizio Sarri. Lampard followed up his appointment by entrusting youth players like Reece James, Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham.

The Toffees are now 16th but not yet out of the woods. They are on 36 points, two more than Leeds United in 18th. Lampard will, however, be buoyed by the fact that they have played a game less than the Lilly Whites. Burnley is also in between the two teams.

The Merseyside club play back-to-back home games against Brentford and Crystal Place before finishing their campaign against Arsenal. Burnley, meanwhile, still has a date against Champions League-chasing Tottenham Hotspurs.

Lampard sent a message to Chelsea fans

Chelsea’s victory at Leeds wasn’t the only favour they have done for Everton in recent times. The London side were beaten by Everton two weeks ago.

Sports Brief reported that Lampard sent a heartfelt message to Chelsea after the game, telling them that he needed the win more.

Lampard enjoyed an impressive career with Chelsea as a player, winning almost every available trophy.
