Pep Guardiola has finally cleared the air on his job at Manchester City claiming that those in charge of the Citizens did not give him the mandate of winning the Champions League.

This statement is coming following Manchester City's defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinal as Pep Guardiola an his wards crashed out again.

Last season, they got to the final of the Champions League before losing the encounter to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

According to the report on GOAL, the former Barcelona gaffer explained that his work at Manchester City does not depend on winning the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola's reaction about the Champions League

"We want to win the Champions League, of course. But when they called me they did not tell me we had to win the Champions League. Not even the Premier League.
"They said they wanted to be competitors in all the competitions until the end, to be a team that for our fans is nice to watch and wins as many games as we can in all competitions.''

Guardiola nominated for prestigious award hours after UCL defeat to Real Madrid

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Guardiola who is the gaffer of Manchester City was shortlisted for the April's best Premier League manager award hours after his side's elimination in the Champions League.

The former Barcelona coach took his wards to the Santiago Bernabeu with the target of beating Real Madrid, but suffered a 3-1 defeat with Rodrygo and Karim Benzema the heroes.

In the month of April, Manchester City played five Premier League games and the Citizens were unbeaten in all these ties as they remain on the top of the table.

Citizens in the month of April defeated Watford, Leeds United, Burnley, Brighton and 2-2 draw against Liverpool.

As things stand now, Manchester City will want to concentrate on their fight to win the Premier League title even though they are in serious contention with Liverpool.
