  • Sanctions on Chelsea mean they could lose Mason Mount who has just two years left on his Chelsea contract
  • The Blues currently can't offer the midfielder a new deal due to the sanctions and Mount is one of the lowest-paid players at Chelsea
  • Top Premier League and European sides are now monitoring the situation and could make a move for Mount in the summer

The sanctions on Chelsea could see them lose another top player following a report on Daily Mail citing The Athletic that Mason Mount could be tempted out of Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are already set to lose Andreas Christensen and Toni Rudiger to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively as both players have agreed on personal terms to join the La Liga clubs.

Now, the London club have a huge battle on their hands to keep Mount and also Reece James who is attracting interest from Real Madrid.

Mount has just two years left on his contract and could fancy a move out of the club with a tempting offer as he is currently one of the low earners at Chelsea.

Mount amongst Chelsea low earners

The 23-year-old is one of the Blues’ lowest paid players on around £70,000 a week and the club's current limitations, due to sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich, prevent them from offering him a new deal.

It has now been reported that three top Premier League's biggest clubs are said to be preparing moves to sign the England international.

The report does not name the English clubs but suggests that other clubs from across Europe's top flights are also interested in Mount.

Mount's contract situation places the Blues in a very difficult situation and the player's negotiation power will likely increase as his deal enters its final two years. However, Mount has been loyal to Chelsea.

Mount has been at Chelsea since he was six, coming through the academy to become a first-team regular.

Mount is in good form for Chelsea this season

He is into double figures this season as he has scored 12 goals across all competitions so far this term.

Real Madrid plot move for Reece James

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Reece James has been identified as a summer transfer target for Spanish side Real Madrid who want to bolster their squad.

This latest development comes days after strong defender Antonio Rudiger was reported to have agreed on personal terms to move to Santiago Bernabeu from Chelsea.

And Real Madrid chiefs seem not to be done yet with Chelsea going by their interest to sign Reece James.

James actually started his youth career at Chelsea before graduating to the first team at Stamford Bridge in 2018 and has been an important member of the Blues squad.

But despite his impressive form in the first-team squad, James, who is under contract until 2025, is not one of Chelsea's highest earners.

And Real Madrid want to tempt him with a good offer for them to have his signature.
