Former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has opened up on the demise of his Chelsea career as he subtly slammed Thomas Tuchel for supposedly messing him up.

Abraham dramatically fell down the pecking order upon the arrival of Tuchel as new Chelsea boss, despite being one of Frank Lampard’s favourite attacking options in the previous regime.

Tuchel went on to establish himself as a world-class manager by winning the Champions League with Chelsea - something which fully justified his squad selection.

Amid the German’s success, things were going horribly wrong for Abraham, who eventually made peace with the fact that he might need to move away from the West London club.

Last summer, he secured a move to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma, and against the odds, he has become a revelation under the Portuguese gaffer.

In the build-up to AS Roma’s clash against Leicester City at the King Power on Thursday, Tammy Abraham opened up on his botched Chelsea spell.

“I was the (joint) highest scorer in the FA Cup (with four goals) and to be told I wasn't in the squad for the final, you can only imagine how I felt,' he told The Athletic as quoted by Daily Mail.

“It wasn't a nice feeling. But I was there to support the boys. I would always do that - good times and bad times - and the same with the Champions League. I just wanted my team to do well and win.”

Because of emerging as Chelsea’s top scorer with 12 goals alongside Timo Werner, Roma were willing to cough up £34million for his services.

Jose Mourinho’s words to Tammy

The English striker went on to describe Mourinho as an “uncle” , saying the Portuguese gaffer helped him a lot in the early stages of his Roma career.

'I'll never forget Jose's first few words to me. He said: "Do you want to stay in rainy England or come and enjoy some sun in Rome?" We laughed and had a good chat. He played a massive part in getting me here. I call him my uncle of Italy.'

Mourinho remembers late Leicester City owner

Elsewhere, Jose Mourinho paid a classy tribute to late Leicester City owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Vichai tragically died in a helicopter crash back in October 2018 shortly after watching Leicester in action.
