- Rio Ferdinand believes that PSG's experience and star-studded attackline could catapult them to European glory
- City's semi final opponents have been in perfect shape on the continental stage
- The French side have already knocked out Barcelona and Bayern Munich on their way to the semi-finals of Champions League
Rio Ferdinand has predicted Paris Saint-Germain will win the Champions League title this season.
Should the French giants go all the way and lift the European trophy, it would be the first time in their history to do that.
However, they will have to contend with a two-legged semi-final fixture with Man City on their way to the finals where they will face the winner between Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Last season, PSG missed out on the prestigious title after suffering a slim 1-0 win in the hands of Bayern Munich in the finals.
However, the Mauricio Pochettino-tutored side earned a perfect revenge over Bayern this season, knocking them out in the quarter-finals to set up a date with Man City in the last four.
Whereas both sides are eyeing European glory for the first time, Rio feels PSG stand the best chance to emerge victors.
According to the Man United icon, PSG have the necessary experience and attacking prowess that can propel them past City and go all the way.
"I think Paris Saint-Germain will win it. They have the experience of last season, two strikers, the business end of the season they know what it’s about now," Rio said on his YouTube channel.
"They’ve been here together, they’re not fazed and I think they’ll have the experience. Pochettino comes up smelling of roses after a turbulent couple of years," he added.
Ferdinand further noted PSG are unlikely to be focused on winning the domestic league as they have already set their sights on conquering Europe.
"I don’t think they’ll care [if he doesn’t win the league]. If he wins the Champions League then he’s outdone everyone because that’s what they are here for," the legendary defender said.
The Ligue One giants are scheduled to take on City in the first leg of their semi-final at Parc des Princes on Wednesday, April 28, before returning to England for the second leg at Etihad.
The match comes just days after they hammered Metz 3-1 in the domestic league.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Rio Ferdinand has tipped Liverpool to secure a top four finish ahead of Chelsea and Leicester.
With Man City well on course to win this season's Premier League title, attention has shifted to the top four race that could go down to the wire.
Up to five teams are currently jostling for the two other remaining slots after Man United all but confirmed a top four finish following their weekend hard-fought win over Brighton.
