Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has slammed fans of the club who chanted the name of owner Roman Abramovich while one-minute applause for the people of Ukraine was ongoing before the Blues clash against Burnley on Saturday, March 5.

In a usual show of solidarity to the people of Ukraine following the war waged by Russia against the country, both Burnley and Chelsea were urged to have one-minute applause.

But some fans of the Blues, however, chose to do something entirely different as they chanted the name of the owner Abramovich who last week announced plans to sell the club.

This act by the fans has now been greeted with extreme disgust by Tuchel who had some strong words to say in the post-match of the Burnley vs Chelsea clash, Sports Bible and Mirror report.

Tuchel said: "It's not the moment to do this. Listen, if we show solidarity, we show solidarity, and we should do it together.

"We take the knee together, and if an important person from our club or another club unfortunately dies, we show a minute of respect. It's not the moment to give other messages. It's the moment to show respect.

"At this moment, we do it for Ukraine, and there is no second opinion about the situation there.

Roman Abramovich announces he will be selling Chelsea

Abramovich last week announced he would be selling Chelsea following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The 55-year-old has owned Chelsea since 2003 and under his ownership, the Blues have won all the titles that could be won in club football - 19 trophies in total.

Chelsea wallop Burnley to keep their top-four hopes alive

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Chelsea kept themselves on course for a top-four finish with an emphatic victory over Burnley.

After a rather uneventful first half that ended goalless, Chelsea opened the scoring thanks to Reece James who scored two minutes into the second half.

Kai Havertz, who returned to the starting XI in place of Romelu Lukaku, scored twice before Christian Pulisic netted a fourth with 21 minutes to go.
