Cristiano Ronaldo Told What He Must Do to Save Glittering Career Following Poor Man United Form
- Ex-Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf believes Cristiano Ronaldo should consider calling time on his football career
- This is after the five-time Ballon d'Or enduring a frustrating run of form that has seen him score just once since the turn of the year
- According to Leboeuf, he would rather have Ronaldo retire at the top than watching the Man United icon with 'pity'
Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has advised Cristiano Ronaldo to retire to keep his glittering career intact.
The Man United icon has endured an underwhelming season since his emotional return to the Theatre of Dreams in the summer.
The Portuguese star had a hot start to life at Old Trafford but has since lost his spark amid United's struggles
Ronaldo has scored 15 goals in 29 games in all competitions, with nine of those coming in 22 league games.
Frank Leboeuf wants Ronaldo to retire
While the 37-year-old has previously declared his intent to continue playing well actively into his 40s, Leboeuf thinks otherwise.
According to the former Chelsea star, Ronaldo should consider calling time on his career at this point rather than having to watch him with 'pity'.
"I don't want to watch Ronaldo and have pity, because he's been on the top for so many years. I don't want him to be a normal player. He's been an exceptional player for so long," he told ESPN.
"I'd prefer him to give up his career at the top instead of maybe trying and play for two or three more years and not being the player that he used to be," he added.
Ronaldo's poor run of form
Ronaldo has managed to find the back of the net just once since the turn of the year.
The goal came against Brighton in the Premier League, ending his six-match goal drought.
The former Real Madrid ace fired blanks once again during United's last outing against Watford which ended in a goalless draw.
Ronaldo flies Georgina to Madrid
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Man United striker Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez spent part of the weekend in Madrid.
The couple took the trip to Madrid just hours after United's disappointing draw with Watford at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo is understood to have treated Georgina to a sumptuous dinner at the ultra-exclusive Filandon restaurant.
