  • The Super Eagles of Nigeria will slug it out against the Pharaohs of Egypt on Tuesday, January 11, in Group D
  • Salah who has so far managed 16 goals from 20 appearances in the Premier League will pose a big threat for the Super Eagles in the encounter

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye believes Nigeria has the quality to stop Egypt forward Mohamed Salah from causing trouble when the two sides face off in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria take on Egypt on Tuesday, January 11, in Group D, as both teams will be seeking to start the competition on a winning note.

And ahead of the mouthwatering encounter, Okoye seems to be ready to face Salah if he behinds the sticks for Nigeria.

The 29-year-old Salah has so far managed 16 goals from 20 appearances in the Premier League with his last goal coming in the team’s 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

But Okoye, who is a player for Watford but currently on loan at Sparta Rotterdam, believes the Super Eagles can stop Salah from shining.

“Like you said ninety minutes fully focused and confident, we are not allowed to be scared,” Okoye said as quoted by Allnigeriasoccer and cited on Goal.
He added: “I think we have the quality to stop even players like this not to give us too much danger.”
