The former England international is set to take up a part-time consultancy role at his former club’s academy.

After spending three years as an assistant coach at Aston Villa, the legendary defender is now set to impart his extensive football knowledge to budding Chelsea youngsters.

His imminent return was initially confirmed by Chelsea who revealed Terry will start his new role from the start of 2022.

"John Terry is returning to Cobham to begin a coaching consultancy role at the Chelsea Academy," Chelsea said in a statement.
"The Blues legend will work with our young players and coaching staff in our youth development programme, sharing the vast experience gained from his 20-year playing career and recent spell as assistant coach at Aston Villa," the club added.

Terry has now broken his silence ahead of the stunning return, divulging on Twitter he is excited with the prospect of linking up with his former club once again.

"I’m delighted to announce that I’m coming home, and have taken up a consultancy role @ChelseaFC academy," the former Chelsea captain tweeted.

Terry, who is a Chelsea academy graduate himself had an illustrious career with the Blues spanning 19 years.

During the period, he made 717 senior appearances and won 15 major trophies including five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, and the Champions League.

He wound up his career at Aston Villa in 2017 before returning a year later to Villa Park to take up a coaching role.

Man United tipped to finish outside top-four

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Nigel de Jong has claimed Man United have no chance of finishing in the top four this season.

Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea all look set to seal the top three slots, leaving the fourth place up for grabs.

A number of teams are primed to battle for the top four place, with Man United, Arsenal, West Ham, and Tottenham in line.

However, De Jong contends it is the Gunners and West Ham who will fight out for the final Champions League spot.
