  • The 23-year-old feels he won't have the chance in the Super Eagles and England as he decided to play for Canada
  • Ike Ugbo is also facing serious competition for a starting lineup at Belgian side Genk from Paul Onuachu

Despite confirming initial readiness to play for the Super Eagles, Genk forward Ike Ugbo has decided to play for the Canadian national team thereby snubbing Nigeria and England.

Ike Ugbo was born in the United Kingdom and has Nigerian parents who then moved to Canada when the forward was four-year-old.

In Canada, Ike Ugbo played youth soccer with Brampton East SC and Woodbridge Strikers winning an international U10 tournament at Disney in 2008 with the latter.

According to the report on Complete Sports and Naija Footballers, Ike Ugbo decided to choose Canada as he sees himself having a regular playing time there than Nigeria and England.

He’s expected to join Canada this coming week in Edmonton, Alberta for the Concacaf final round of FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Jubilation in Nigeria As Top Premier League Star Dumps England, Chooses to Play for Super Eagles

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Ademola Lookman who is currently on the books of Premier League side Leicester City has decided to switch international allegiance to the Super Eagles after playing for England at youth levels.

This latest development will come as a cheering one for all Nigerian football lovers considering how Ademola Lookman has been performing in recent years.

In 2017, Ademola Lookman was among the young English players who won the Under 20 World Cup for England and has also played for the Under 21 team.

But since he has not been called to play for the Three-Lions, and considering the facts that Ademola Lookman's parents are Nigerians, he has the right to pick the Super Eagles.

Ademola Lookman will have to wait for necessary things to be done by the Nigerian Football Federation and FIFA before playing for the Super Eagles.
