- Paul Scholes had earlier in the season named Liverpool and Man City as clear favourites to win the Premier League
- At the time, the former Man United midfielder gave Chelsea no chance of challenging for the domestic crown
- However, he has made an about-turn and tipped the Blues to have a go at the league title
- The west Londoners are currently topping the standings with 30 points after 13 rounds of fixtures
Man United icon Paul Scholes has conceded Chelsea could win the Premier League title this season should they manage to keep Romelu Lukaku fit.
Scholes' admission is a stunning U-turn from his previous prediction where he had claimed the league title is between holders Man City and 2019/20 champions Liverpool.
At the time, the legendary midfielder ruled out Chelsea from the title race, claiming they stood no chance.
Scholes made the suggestion after Liverpool mauled Man United 5-0 at Old Trafford in October.
Since then, Chelsea have won two and drawn two of their last four league fixtures and remain on the summit of the log with 30 points, a point ahead of second-placed City.
During the period, the Blues have had to contend with the absence of Lukaku who has been battling an ankle injury that he picked during his side's 4-0 win over Malmo in the Champions League.
But with the Belgian nearing full fitness, Scholes finally contends the west Londoners have a genuine chance of winning their first Premier League crown in five years.
"I think Lukaku is a big difference to him [Tuchel]. They need to get him fit, if he can play the rest of the games this season, they are going to have a great chance," Scholes said as quoted by Metro UK.
Following their weekend 1-1 draw with Man United, Thomas Tuchel's charges will be desperate to bounce back to winning ways when they travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford on Wednesday, December 1.
Man City backed to win EPL
Earlier, TUKO.co.ke Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher have both tipped Man City to retain the Premier League title this season ahead of rivals Chelsea and Liverpool.
Despite the apparent stiff competition among Liverpool, Man City, and Chelsea, Keane and Carragher believe City will successfully defend their crown and win it for the eighth time.
"At this moment in time, as brilliant as Liverpool and Chelsea are, I’d go with Man City," Keane declared.
