The 42-year-old Champions League winner was named the Nanan Kadio Morokro III of Niable village on Tuesday, December 15.

The traditional title was bestowed upon the Premier League icon by the founder of the village Nanan Kouakou Kouao the Patient III.

According to ivoirematin, the former Ivory Coast captain was enthroned in the pure Akan tradition and received the attributes of a chief.

The former Blues goal poacher is currently in Niable with his foundation as part of a social work marked by the delivery of digital libraries and school kits to local schools.

Drogba earned the prestigious role just weeks after he was crowned with the 2020 UEFA President's award.

TUKO.co.ke reported the former striker beat the likes of Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona legend Lionel Messi to win the accolade.

The European football governing body made the announcement on Thursday afternoon, October 1, during the live draw of the 2020/21 Champions League group stages.
