The 26-year-old secured a permanent switch to Stoke City to end his long stay with the European champions.

During his stay with the west Londoners, Baker could only manage two appearances for the club despite his promising career.

Baker joined Chelsea in 2005 while aged just nine and grew through the ranks at the club's youth system.

The once highly-rated prospect had a stunning season during the 2013/14 campaign when he was named Chelsea's Young Player of the Year.

However, after then, he could only manage two FA Cup third-round appearances for the Blues.

He made his bow for the senior team in 2014 against Derby, with his second appearance coming eight years later against Chesterfield earlier this month.

The technically-gifted midfielder has now sealed a move to Stoke City, becoming the club's third transfer of the January transfer window.

The news was confirmed by the Championship side, with the club's boss Michael O'Neill speaking highly of Baker.

“He’s a very talented midfielder who will bring a different dimension to our squad and we are delighted to have him on board with us," O'Neill told Stoke's club website.

Tuchel hits out at Lukaku

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Thomas Tuchel has taken a swipe at Romelu Lukaku over the forward's performance in Chelsea's defeat to Man City on Saturday, January 15.

The Blues were unable to keep City at bay at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola's men secured a 1-0 crucial win to stretch their lead at the top to 13 points.

Kevin de Bruyne was the match hero for the English champions as his second-half stunner secured the crucial win for the Citizens.
