Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact joined Kenyans in congratulating midfielder Victor Wanyama after it was recently revealed the former Harambee Stars international had welcomed his first child.
Wanyama’s long term partner Sera Teshna on Tuesday, October 19 took to social media to announce that she had become a mother 40 days ago.
The actress shared the information via her Instagram in a well-choreographed video showing off her tummy.
“God showed up and showed out. We are so excited to share this amazing journey with you. God is the greatest. 40 days of baby cuddles,” the message read.
On the evening of October 19, Montreal Impact also reshared Sera’s initial post with the message:
“Victor Wanyama maintenant papa! Congrats to you & Sera Teshna for the beginning of this amazing journey.”
Of course, Wanyama retweeted the message.
Wanyama and Teshna have been dating for years, but somehow managed to keep their relationship under wraps from the public eye.
Teshna, who rose to prominence thanks to her role in the popular local production Sue na Johnnie, has been dating the star midfielder from his Tottenham days, and used to visit him in the UK.
For Wanyama, he has become a crowd favourite at Montreal Impact, and is an integral part of the team this season.
Wanyama hangs international boots
News that Wanyama is a father for the first time comes only weeks after the Kenyan international called time on his international career.
In his announcement, Wanyama, who was stripped off captaincy by Jacob Ghost Mulee, said he arrived at the decision to allow the next generation to flourish in the national team.
“We have shared great moments together and I am proud to have been your captain and leader. But all good things must come to an end eventually; and after a long consideration, I have made the really difficult decision to retire from international football,” Wanyama said in his statement.
He also hinted at making possibly seeking a position at the federation once his career came to an end.
