Arsenal delivered a statement performance at the Emirates Stadium on Friday evening, dismantling Fulham 3-0 to extend their Premier League lead over Manchester City to six points with the season entering its critical final stretch.
The result was shaped in large part by the return of Bukayo Saka to the starting eleven. The England winger, who captained the side on the night, was instrumental from the first whistle, combining directness and creativity on the right flank to repeatedly trouble the Fulham defence.
Arsenal broke the deadlock inside nine minutes. Saka drove past Raúl Jiménez with ease before whipping a low cross into the area, which Viktor Gyökeres converted to open the scoring. The Swedish forward, who joined Arsenal from Sporting CP in the summer of 2025, continued to demonstrate why he has been one of the signings of the season.
The home side’s momentum was briefly interrupted when Riccardo Calafiori’s header was disallowed for offside after the Emirates had erupted in celebration, but Mikel Arteta‘s team continued to press for a second goal. It arrived in the 40th minute when Saka received a pass from Gyökeres and drilled the ball past goalkeeper Bernd Leno at the near post to double the advantage.
Gyökeres then completed the scoring in the closing moments of the first half, stretching to head beyond Leno and put the contest beyond doubt before the interval. The match ended 3-0, with Fulham — who featured Nigerian international Calvin Bassey in their defensive line — unable to mount a meaningful response throughout.
The victory consolidates Arsenal’s position at the summit of the Premier League table heading into the final weeks of the 2025-26 campaign. A six-point cushion over Manchester City, with a limited number of fixtures remaining, places Arteta’s squad in a commanding position in their ongoing bid to secure the club’s first top-flight league title since the 2003-04 Invincibles season.
Saka’s return to the starting lineup carries additional significance given the injury concerns that had surrounded him earlier in the campaign. His performance against Fulham — providing one assist and scoring one goal — will be an encouraging sign for Arsenal supporters as the club prepares for the games that could define their season.
For Fulham, the defeat continues a difficult run of form against top-half opposition. The London side, who finished eighth in the Premier League in 2024-25, currently face a battle to secure a Europa League place, and results such as this underline the gap that remains between them and the division’s leading clubs.
