Ghanaian defender, Tariq Lamptey played a huge role as Brighton and Hove Albion ended Liverpool's hopes of defending the FA Cup title.

The Seagulls eliminated the holders after a 2-1 win at the Amex Park, thanks to a late goal from Japanese sensation, Kaoru Mitoma.

Mitoma received all the plaudits for his brilliant dummy and winner, but it all started with Lamptey's incredible assist for Lewis Dunk's equaliser.

The right-back's long-range strike was skewed by Dunk to elude Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker.

The video of Lamptey's strike has since been shared numerous times on social media.

Liverpool had taken an early lead through midfielder, Harvey Elliot before Dunk levelled with six minutes to half-time.

Mitoma sealed victory in injury time, after making a fool out of Liverpool's defenders.

Lamptey was replaced by Paul Van Hecke after playing 90 minutes.

Lamptey reacts after cup win

The Black Stars defender took to social media to share his excitement, after Brighton made it to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

He wrote on Twitter:

"Into the next round. Thank you for the support."

Lamptey delighted after Middlesborough win

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Black Stars defender, Lamptey sharing his excitement after an impressive display for Brighton against Middlesborough.

The 22-year-old played at full throttle, as the Seagulls walloped the Championship side 5-1 at the Riverside Stadium.

Lamptey took to social media to express his delight at helping his club stroll into the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Lamptey resumes training at Brighton

Sports Brief also reported on Ghana defender, Lamptey returning to training with Brighton following the Black Stars' World Cup elimination.

The former England youth international had rejoined his teammates for preparations ahead of the return of the English Premier League.

In photos shared on social media at the time, Lamptey was seen going through the drills as he works on maintaining his fitness.
