Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey has shared his excitement after an impressive display for Brighton and Hove Albian in the FA Cup third round victory over Middlesborough.

The 22-year-old played full throttle as the Seagulls walloped the Championship side 5-1 at Riverside Stadium.

Lamptey took to social media to express his delight after Brighton strolled into the fourth round of the oldest cup competition.

Brighton showed their intent early in the game after Pascal Gross broke the deadlock just eight minutes into the match, but Middlesborough responded five minutes later through Chuba Akpom.

Half way through the first half, Adam Lallana restored Brighton's lead with a fine finish.

World Cup winner and second half substitute, Alexis Mac Allister scored a brace to put the game beyond Boro. Deniz Undav sealed victory with two minutes remaining.

Lamptey was making his third consecutive appearance for the Premier League side since returning from the World Cup, where he featured in two matches for the Black Stars.

Tariq Lamptey returns to training

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey has returned to training at Brighton and Hove Albion following the Black Stars' World Cup elimination.

The former England youth international rejoined his teammates this week for preparations ahead of the return of the English Premier League.

In photos shared on social media, Lamptey is seen going through drills as he works on his fitness.

Lamptey excited to switch nationalities

Brighton and Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey has revealed how proud he is to join Ghana's Black Stars for the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua this week.

The former England youth international switched nationalities to represent the West African nation in June.

And in his first interview with the Ghana Football Association media, Lamptey expressed delight after receiving a warm reception from his new international teammates.
