England Forward Danny Welbeck Reveals Getting Booed by His Family as He Made His Debut Against Ghana

Brighton and Hove Albion forward Danny Welbeck has opened up on making his England debut against the Black Stars of Ghana.

Welbeck, born to Ghanaian parents in England, earned his first cap for the Three Lions in a friendly against the Black Stars on March 29, 2011.

A late Asamoah Gyan curler cancelled Andy Carrol's strike for England as the two nations shared the spoils.

In a chat with popular Ghanaian-born British comedian Michael Dapaah, Welbeck disclosed he was booed by his family as he came on for Ashley Young.

"I made my debut against Ghana, so I remember my family to in the England section and they are there booing me," he said during the interview.
"It was a mad moment but one that is definitely a highlight," he added.

Welbeck decided to represent England because he had played for the youth teams of the European country.

"It was natural for me at that time because I have been playing for England since I was 14, so it was like that natural progression, you want to reach the next step," he continued.
"You move from the 19's, the U21's and reach the senior team. There was not an approach from Ghana for me to come play for them, nothing like that."

Welbeck has played 42 times for England, scoring 16 goals.

From the images and videos shared online, Welbeck looks like a much-improved version of himself as he has put on a considerable amount of muscle.

The former Manchester united man took to Instagram to share a video of his intense workouts during the summer and from the images, it is clear he has been putting in the work at the gym.
