Tariq Lamptey seems to have adapted very well to his new environment and has already taken interest in some local dishes within a short period.
The English-born right-back arrived in Ghana on Monday after a long season with English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion.
Lamptey’s arrival has further sparked reports that he completed his nationality switch to represent Ghana.
However, the 21-year-old, who is in Ghana told Joy Sports the purpose of his visit, and has nothing to do with his international career.
Despite not being in the country for long, Lamptey revealed that he’s already loving Ghanaian food.
“It feels good to be back, it’s nice and hot. There is some good food and I am enjoying that,” he said as quoted by Pulse Ghana.
“To be honest, I just came back for holiday. Obviously, it’s been a good but long season so I just came to get some rest, some sun – I’ve come to see some family and friends that I have not seen for a while. I’m taking this opportunity just to relax and whine down after a long season.”
Tariq Lamptey agrees to switch nationality
Meanwhile, Lamptey has agreed to switch his nationality from England to Ghana, according to London-based Ghanaian coach Freddie.
The marauding wing-back has been on the wishlist of the Ghana Football Association and the news of his nationality switch will be warmly received with the AFCON qualifiers on the horizon.
Lamptey has represented England at the youth level and recently received a call-up to the England U21 in March but is still eligible to play for the Black Stars and if the account of coach Freddie is anything to go by then the Brighton defender will be committing his future to the West African nation.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that England-born defender of Ghanaian descent Tariq Lamptey has reportedly touched down in Ghana.
Lamptey, who is on the cusp of switching his allegiance to Ghana, recently turned down a call-up to the England U21 team as he weighs up his future.
According to multiple reports in the local media landscape, the Chelsea academy alumnus is in the country and is set to head to Cape Coast, where he will watch his new international teammates play against Madagascar.
