Ivory Coast forward Sebastien Haller has broken his silence after making an appearance for Borussia Dortmund since recovering from cancer.

The 28-year-old came on as a second-half substitute as Dortmund thumped Fortuna Dusseldorf in a friendly on Tuesday night.

Having resumed training this week, Haller was named in the team for the friendly and he replaced Youssouf Moukoko as the German giants won the game 5-1.

After the match, an excited Haller shared his delight on returning to football after six months of cancer treatment.

"First step, great feeling. Thanks for your messages," he wrote on Twitter.

Haller will play a significant role for Dortmund ahead of the return of the Bundesliga this month.

He is yet to make a competitive appearance for the club.

Meanwhile, his replacement in the summer Anthony Modeste has been in a rich run of form for the Yellow and Blacks.

Haller was top scorer in the Dutch Eredivisie last season and also scored 11 goals in eight matches in the UEFA Champions League.

His return is huge boost for Dortmund for the rest of the season.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Sebastien Haller has started training as he begins the process of his comeback to football, following months of being on the sidelines due to cancer.

The Borussia Dortmund star was diagnosed with testicular cancer three months ago, forcing him to put his career on hold. '

However, the Ivorian forward has returned to Holland to continue his rehabilitation as he trains with Ajax Amsterdam.

Sébastien Haller’s and Borussia Dortmund have suffered a major blow ahead of the new season.

The Bundesliga side will be without their new striker, Haller, after the player was ruled out for an indefinite period. Sébastien Haller is yet to play a competitive match for Borussia Dortmund and has already been ruled out indefinitely after a tumour.

As reported by ESPN, Haller left Dortmund’s training camp in Switzerland after feeling unwell.
