Following the successful outing at the Signal Iduna Park, players of Dortmund performed a gesture that has warmed the hearts of football followers across social media.

In a photo posted on Twitter, seen by Sports Brief, Jude Bellingham, Anthony Modeste, Karim Adeyemi and a host of other first-team players posed with a Dortmund jersey which had Marco Reus' name and favourite No.11 number after the game.

Reus' unfortunate injury was initially feared to be long-term, however Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl revealed on Sunday that he has not suffered a fracture, and he should be able to return to action in 3-4 weeks, reports bvbbuzz.

“The examinations we did yesterday did not show a fracture, but an external ligament injury to the ankle. It’s not so serious that the World Cup is possibly in jeopardy. Marco will be out for three to four weeks and then will be available to us again.”

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Marco Reus' hopes of playing for Germany at the FIFA World Cup have been boosted.

The player's participation at the tournament in Qatar was in doubt after he was stretched off during Borussia Dortmund's game against Schalke 04.

Reus had to be taken off on a stretcher in the 32nd minute of the game after he collapsed to the ground clutching his ankle.
