Borussia Dortmund has shot to the top of the Bundesliga table with 6 points from their opening two games of the 2022/23 league season after another impressive victory against Freiburg.

BVB had struggled for much of the encounter after going a goal down in the first half but Edin Terzic’s team rallied back with 3 goals in 11 minutes in the second half to stun their hosts.

The defeat for Freiburg at the Europa Park Stadium in front of their home supporters comes as a shock following their gallant display against Borussia Dortmund.

How the Dortmund magic happened

Michael Gregoritsch's 33rd-minute goal for Freiburg got fans at the Europa Park Stadium ecstatic after the home side had put up a spirited performance against Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund manager, Edin Terzic had started new signing, Anthony Modeste upfront but the former Koln captain struggled to find his rhythm in his first game for BVB.

Dortmund launched their comeback after being gifted an unexpected equalizer as Jamie Byone-Gittens capitalized on a goalkeeping howler by Mark Flekken who tried to block a 25-metre shot from teenager.

Youssoufa Moukoko got Dortmund’s second on the night in the 84th minute after he was nicely set up by Jamie Byone-Gittens as Edin Terzic’s men took the lead for the first time in the encounter.

Marius Wolf sealed the victory for Borussia Dortmund in the 88th minute to earn back-to-back victories for BVB in their opening two games of the season.

Borussia Dortmund will next host Werder Bremen on Saturday, August 20 while Freiburg will be away to Stuttgart on the same day.

Dortmund targets successive Bundesliga victory against Freiburg

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg will open Matchday 2 of the Bundesliga this Friday, August 12 when Breisgau-Brasilianer hosts Edin Terzic’s team at the Europa Park Stadium.

Both teams will be looking to build on matchday 1 success after recording impressive victories against Bayer Leverkusen and Augsburg, respectively.

Freiburg had thrashed Augsburg 4-0 thanks to four second-half goals, while Borussia Dortmund managed a 1-0 win against a stubborn Bayer Leverkusen.
