Borussia Dortmund have close in on a deal to sign Anthony Modeste as their short-term replacement for Sebastien Haller.

According to transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the German giants have already reached an agreement in principle on personal terms with the FC Köln striker.

The 34-year-old fox-in-the-box striker will pen a one-year deal, with an obligation to extend his stay for another year.

The reports further indicate that Dortmund are open to paying a transfer fee of 4-5 million euros for the 34 year old.

Modeste is regarded as one of the top strikers since he joined the Bundesliga club. He notably notched a 25 goals in his first spell with Koln in the 2016/17 season.

Last season, was instrumental for Koln, scoring an astonishing 20 goals in 32 appearances.

The Borussia Dortmund striker pulled out of pre-season training after complaining that he was feeling unwell. After undergoing further tests, he was diagnosed with a testicular tumour.
