Dortmund will host Rangers at home in Germany in the first leg encounter, The Citizen reported.

Dortmund found their way into the playoffs after finishing third in their Champions League group. The German side finished behind Ajax and Sporting in Group C. Rangers will be hoping that Erling Haaland isn’t fit for the game. Haaland has missed Dortmund’s last two fixtures.

Rangers manager, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, even described Haaland as being on the same level as Kylian Mbappe, ESPN reported.

Rangers earned their place in the playoffs after finishing second in their Europa League group, ending up as runners-up to Lyon.

The winners of the playoff games will be put into the draw for the last 16 where they will face any one of the eight group winners.

Lyon, Monaco, Spartak Moscow, Eintracht Frankfurt, Galatasaray, Red Star Belgrade, Bayer Leverkusen, and West Ham United all automatically qualified for the round of 16 draw as group winners.

In other football news, Spanish giants Barcelona will begin their Europa League journey on Thursday evening February, 17 when they take on Italian giants Napoli at the Camp Nou, Sports Brief earlier reported.

The knockout phase of the competition is at hand and it is the first time that the Catalan giants will feature in the competition after an 18 year absence, as they host Napoli for the first leg of their fixture.

Barcelona was far from impressive in the Champions League winning just two of their six fixtures, drawing one and then losing three to finish in the third position behind Bayern Munich and Benfica.
