Besiktas Target Maduka Okoye as Juventus Transfer Interest Grows for Super Eagles Goalkeeper

Maduka Okoye has firmly placed himself in the sights of multiple top European clubs following a compelling 2025/26 campaign with Udinese in Serie A, where the Nigeria international recorded ten clean sheets across 30 league appearances to cement his status as one of the division’s most dependable goalkeepers.

The 26-year-old’s performances have not gone unnoticed beyond Italy. According to reports from Eagle Media, cited by Pulse Sports, 16-time Turkish Süper Lig champions Beşiktaş have identified Okoye as a primary transfer target ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Istanbul-based club, known as the Black Eagles, are working to construct a title-challenging squad around new head coach Vincenzo Italiano. Defensive reinforcement is reportedly a central objective for the club, having conceded 40 goals in the Turkish Süper Lig last season. Okoye’s ability to produce crucial saves, his composure in possession, and his commanding presence in the penalty area are said to have made him the preferred candidate to address those defensive vulnerabilities.

Okoye’s profile has also been elevated on the international stage. With Stanley Nwabali absent, the Udinese shot-stopper stepped up for the Super Eagles and delivered assured displays in recent fixtures against Portugal and Poland — performances that sources suggest further accelerated interest from clubs across Europe.

Juventus have also been linked with a move for the goalkeeper as part of a broader squad overhaul at the Turin club. However, according to reports, no formal offer from the Italian side has yet materialised. Udinese are believed to be open to selling the player this summer and have reportedly begun assessing potential replacement options. With two years remaining on Okoye’s current contract, the Italian club is expected to demand a significant transfer fee from any interested party.

Okoye, who came to widespread attention through his performances in Serie A and for the Super Eagles, has previously been associated with clubs including Watford and Sparta Rotterdam earlier in his career before establishing himself as a reliable top-flight goalkeeper in Italy.

The competition between Besiktas and Juventus for Okoye’s signature reflects a broader trend of Nigerian goalkeepers drawing sustained interest from Europe’s established leagues. Should a deal progress in either direction, it would represent a notable step in Okoye’s club career — either a move to one of Turkey’s historically dominant clubs or a return to a Champions League-level environment in Italy.

No official bids have been confirmed by Udinese, Besiktas, or Juventus at the time of publication. The transfer window continues to develop, with Okoye’s future expected to become clearer in the coming weeks.
